Every Community Deserves Clean, Reliable Water and Dignified Sanitation

Clean Water and Dignified Sanitation For All

Water and sanitation are not privileges - they are basic rights.

The ANC Programme Commits Municipalities To:

• Repairing and replacing ageing water pipes and pumps
• Reducing water losses and non-revenue water through leak detection
• Addressing sewer spillages and upgrading wastewater treatment
• Expanding alternative water sources including groundwater and reuse
• Professionalising water management and protecting workers

In many municipalities, communities still experience interruptions and poor quality. Our 2026 local government programme is clear: municipalities must have the capacity, maintenance plans and accountable leadership to deliver.

When water flows, health improves, small businesses function and dignity is restored.
